Castle Hill

Exmoor in Devon is the home to many famous shoots but it is Castle Hill which often comes out on top when compiling the best in the UK’s regional home of high bird shooting.

 

Brigands

Located at the foot of Snowdonia, Brigands has earned its reputation as one of the best pheasant shoots in the UK due to its incredible surroundings in the valleys of the Cambrian Mountains.

 

Garrowby

Very exclusive and hard to book, this Lord Halifax-owned shoot in Yorkshire is in the same range of East Riding hills as Warter Priory and is noted for its deep valleys and hanging woods. A real challenge, even for the best.

Home to the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland, Alnwick is the second largest inhabited castle in England and is famous across the world for doubling as Hogwarts School in the Harry Potter films. The shoot itself is also pretty magical, covering 2,500 acres over three valleys with spectacular views across the Cheviot Hills.

 

Warter Priory

Set in the heart of East Yorkshire amidst 12,000 acres of rolling farmland, Warter Priory has long been the destination of high society and was a favourite of none other than Winston Churchill. Wrackleford

Set in the unspoilt deep Dorset chalk valleys, Wrackleford offers a spectacular setting for shooting with the day based around the estate’s unique Shooting Lodge.

 

Bleasdale

A Lancashire gem, Bleasdale is a real challenge for the experienced shot. Comprising of 2,970 acres and situated in an attractive large bowl with stunning views, it is a favourite of the sporting press and is renowned for its exceptionally high sporting birds.

 

Raehills

Built as a hunting retreat at the end of the 18th century by the 3rd Earl of Hopetoun, this historic sandstone mansion continues to thrive as a sporting venue for those seeking some excellent shooting and stately splendour. It lies between Dumfries and Moffat in South West Scotland.

 

Thirlestane

Thirlestane is renowned in shooting circles for the exceptional quality of its drives. The shoot is situated on the south west edge of the Lammermuir Hills near the town of Lauder,about 25 miles south of Edinburgh.
