Reflexology is a form of therapy that involves applying gentle pressure to the hands, feet or ears. As a practice, reflexology is based on the belief that specific points—known as reflex points—on these body parts are aligned to different organs and systems elsewhere in the body.

Experts believe that applying pressure to these reflex points works in a similar way to acupuncture, helping to promote relaxation and boost the body’s natural healing process.

What does reflexology insurance with Ripe cover?

What's covered

  • Treatment risk cover

Protects your liability against third-party claims for injury or property damage following beauty treatments up to the value of £3m.

What's not covered

  • Working abroad

Policyholders working in the UK can only be covered. Claims brought in from another country cannot be covered.

  • Treatments involving the use of injections

Cover will not be included for any treatment involving the use of injections, alongside a list of specifically excluded treatments.

  • Closure due to disease

Business interruption cannot be covered due to disease outbreaks classified as pandemics by the World Health Organisation.

  • Theft from unattended and unlocked vehicles

Theft from unattended vehicles will not be covered unless all points of access are locked, or the vehicle is stolen at the same time.

  • Exclusions to buildings, shop front, and contents cover

Excludes wear and tear, manufacturing faults, vermin, or inherent defects, alongside theft and escape of water if the salon has not been occupied for 30 consecutive days.

  • Exclusions to money cover

Excludes theft from employees if not reported to the police within 7 days and theft from an unattended vehicle.  

 

What's optional

  • Contents, stock, and shop front cover

You can cover your contents, stock, shop front, fixtures, and fittings up to a combined value of £250k.

  • Employers’ liability

This cover protects your liability following illness or injury to an employee up to the value of £10m.

  • Buildings cover

Up to £500k of cover is provided for your salon’s building, including any outbuildings, walls, gates, and fences.

  • Teaching cover

Provides cover for compensation sought following a negligent act in respect of providing teaching services where you have received a fee.

  • Money cover

You can cover the theft of money from your business up to the value of £2,500.

  • Business interruption

Covers loss of turnover or the additional costs of keeping your business running up to the value of £500k if you cannot trade.

  • Legal cover

You can select up to £100k of cover for costs incurred from defending or pursuing a claim for a range of legal issues.

    • There are several layers of reflexology insurance you may want to consider. However, the cover you choose ultimately depends on what specific things you wish to cover your business against.

      The three main types of reflexology insurance are:

      • Public Liability – this protects you from potential third-party claims for personal injury, issues arising from treatment, and property damage

      • Employers’ Liability – this is a legal requirement if you employ others as part of your business. This will cover you and your business if an employee makes a claim against you

      • Equipment Cover – this can cover you for theft, loss, or accidental damage to your business equipment.

      You may also consider adding Money Cover as an extra layer of protection in case money belonging to your business is stolen from your premises or in transit. This can be particularly useful if you work mobile and travel to carry reflexology treatment or deal mainly with cash.

      Buildings Cover is another additional layer of protection you may also wish to consider, particularly if you own the salon where you carry out treatment.
