What does nail technician insurance through Ripe cover?

What's covered

  • Public and Products Liability—up to £10m cover as standard against third-party claims for injury or property damage.
  • Treatment risk cover—protection against third-party claims following nail treatments up to the value of £3m.

What's optional

  • Contents, stock, and shop front cover—includes fixtures and fittings, up to a combined value of £250k. 
  • Employers’ liability—up to £10m liability cover following illness or injury to an employee. 
  • Buildings cover—up to £500k for your salon’s building, including any outbuildings, walls, gates, and fences.  
  • Teaching cover—for compensation sought following a negligent act in respect of providing teaching services. 
  • Money cover—up to £2.5k for theft of money from your business. 
  • Business interruption—covers loss of turnover or the additional costs of keeping your business running up to the value of £500k. 
  • Legal cover—up to £100k for costs incurred from defending or pursuing a claim. 

What's not covered

  • Working abroad—only policyholders working in the UK can be covered.
  • Treatments involving the use of injections—alongside a list of specifically excluded treatments.
  • Injury to the public whilst teaching—students must have their own nail technician insurance cover to protect their liability.
  • Theft from unattended and unlocked vehicles—unless all points of access are locked, or the vehicle is stolen at the same time.
  • Exclusions to money cover—excludes theft from employees if not reported to the police within 7 days and theft from an unattended vehicle.

What treatments are covered?

Specialist nail tech insurance through Ripe includes cover for the following treatments:

  • application of nail extensions and nail coatings including varnishes and coatings cured using a UV or LED lamp*
  • application of nail art
  • cutting and shaping of nails
  • manicures and pedicures including paraffin wax
