Piano and Keyboard Insurance

What is specialist piano and keyboard insurance?

Pianos and keyboards are unique instruments which create a unique range of sounds. Whether you’re performing soft melodies or playing fortissimo, you can evoke all kinds of emotions on these instruments. Being unable to play your piano or keyboard doesn’t bear thinking about – but it could become a reality if an incident occurred and you didn’t have the right protection.

Without piano and keyboard insurance, your equipment is not protected against loss, theft and damage and if something happens to it, you would have to pay out of your own pocket for repairs or replacements. You also wouldn’t be covered if you were performing abroad.

For these reasons, piano and keyboard insurance is a must-have. Find out how our specialist piano and keyboard insurance can help protect your passion.

Specialist cover for pianists and keyboardists

Our insurance lets you tailor your policy to your exact needs, so you’ll never pay more than you have to.

Why do pianists need equipment cover?

Pianos are elegant and desirable, so the last thing you want is to have a damaged piano on your hands which you can’t easily get repaired or replaced. Keyboards are also vulnerable to theft, since they’re relatively small and easy to steal.

If your piano or keyboard is lost, damaged or stolen, it could be very expensive to get it repaired or replaced. If you’re a performing musician, having your piano or keyboard lost, damaged or stolen could mean the end of a tour or stop you from playing for a period of time.

We understand how important it is for any piano player that their equipment is covered wherever they are. That’s why our Equipment cover makes sure your equipment is protected both at home and when out and about. It also ensures that you don’t have to fork out for repairs or replacements, meaning you’ll be back playing in no time at all.

What pianos do we insure?

We offer insurance for many different pianos and keyboards. From acoustic piano insurance and organ insurance to keyboard insurance and synthesiser insurance, we offer an extensive range. If you want to check if we can insure your piano or keyboard, simply give us a call on 08000 469 859.

  • Pianists and keyboardists can cover their equipment against theft, loss and damage. We’ll pay for repairs or replacements up to the figure stated in your Insurance Schedule.
  • If an item is less than three years old – and was bought new – we’ll replace it New-for-Old. We also cover laptops which are less than 18 months old and were bought new.

Why do pianists need Public Liability insurance?

Public Liability insurance is essential if you play live – so much so, that most venues and concert halls won’t allow you to perform without it.

Public Liability insurance provides protection if you accidentally injure someone else or cause damage to the venue you’re performing at. For example, if a member of the public tripped over equipment you left lying around, or if moving your piano damaged the venue flooring.

The last thing you need is to turn up and be told you can’t play. That’s why we also send you your Public Liability insurance certificate straight to your phone, so you never miss a performance.

  • Our Public Liability cover starts at £1 million.
  • You also get £1 million Professional Indemnity cover FREE when you take out our Public Liability, protecting you against claims that occur from any negligent advice or instructions you’ve given.

Why do you need Performance cover?

If you play your piano or keyboard live, you also need Performance cover. Imagine if you had an accident during a performance, sustained a bad injury, and were unable to earn your usual income for a sustained period of time?

Performance cover includes Loss of Earnings for up to 52 weeks, so you receive financial support if you’re unable to work following an accident.

We also provide Equipment Hire which reimburses you for the hire of alternative music equipment from a recognised reputable dealer whilst your insured equipment is being repaired or replaced.

In addition, we provide Equipment Breakdown protection, which covers you should your equipment break and it wasn’t because of accidental damage.

Why do you need Personal Accident cover?

Unfortunately, accidents can happen from time to time, whether you’re performing or rehearsing. These accidents could cause you a serious injury, leaving you unable to play and needing treatment.

Our Personal Accident cover makes sure the financial impact of any injuries is kept to a minimum if you sustain an injury whilst using music, entertainment, sound or lighting equipment. It provides compensation for dental treatment, and for more serious outcomes like loss of limbs, loss of sight, permanent disablement and death. With us, you won’t be left out of pocket.

  • We provide up to £30,000 Personal Accident cover.

Can one policy cover others?

If you are part of a band or a group, then you can take out one policy for everyone - all we need are the names of all your members.
