Specialist cover for orchestras

We understand each orchestra is different and unique – which is why we offer flexible orchestra insurance. Simply choose the cover that suits you and only pay for what you need.

Why does your orchestra need Equipment cover?

Orchestras rely on a range of instruments to create amazing music. Although you take care of your equipment, it could be lost, damaged or stolen when you’re transporting it to and from venues. Is it worth taking the risk with such valuable equipment? If the answer is no, your orchestra needs Equipment cover.

Our Equipment cover makes sure you won’t need to pay for repairs or replacements out of your own pocket – and we’ll also cover up to £50,000 of equipment.

This cover is simple to arrange and will insure the collective value of all your instruments, and unlike other insurance companies we don’t need you to list every instrument or piece of kit you want to insure. One orchestra member can organise the policy for the whole group – all we need are the names of the musicians in your orchestra.

  • Orchestras can cover their equipment against theft, loss and damage. We’ll also pay for repairs or replacements up to the figure stated in your Insurance Schedule.
  • If an instrument is less than three years old – and was bought new – we’ll replace it New-for-Old.  We also cover laptops which are less than 18 months old and were bought new.

Why does your orchestra need Public Liability insurance?

Most public venues won’t allow an orchestra to perform without a valid Public Liability insurance certificate – so having Public Liability insurance is essential.

Public Liability insurance provides protection if you injure someone else or cause damage to property when performing.

For example, if an audience member trips over a cable and badly injures themselves, or some heavy equipment falls and damages the stage, you would be covered if a claim is made against you.

What’s more, we’ll email your Public Liability insurance certificate straight to your phone, meaning you can provide proof of insurance quickly and easily.

  • Our Public Liability cover starts at £1 million.
  • You also get £1 million Professional Indemnity FREE when you take out our Public Liability, protecting you against claims that occur from any negligent advice or instructions you’ve given.

Why does your orchestra need Performance cover?

As you perform live, you need Performance cover in case you or a member of your orchestra injures themselves and can’t work for a long period of time.

Performance cover also comes in handy if your instrument is damaged, and you need a last-minute replacement to avoid missing the show.

Performance cover includes Loss of Earnings cover of up to 52 weeks, to ensure that you receive financial support if you injure yourself during a performance and are left unable to work or perform for long periods.

As well as this, we provide Equipment Breakdown cover in case your instrument has a breakage, and Equipment Hire to make sure you’re still able to play whilst you’re awaiting the repair or replacement of an insured instrument.

Why does your orchestra need Personal Accident cover?

If you play live in an orchestra, an accident could happen involving music, entertainment, sound or lighting equipment.

Fortunately, our Personal Accident cover ensures that the financial impact of serious injuries is kept to a minimum.

  • We provide up to £30,000 Personal Accident cover.

Can one policy cover every orchestra member?

Yes, it can. One orchestra member can organise the policy for the whole group – all we need are the names of the musicians in your orchestra.

Does your orchestra perform abroad?

If your orchestra is performing outside of the UK, perhaps on a tour, then it’s important you’re insured abroad. That’s why we provide you with a Worldwide option for up to 180 days a year, to protect you wherever you are in the world, so you can wow the crowds with peace of mind.

Why choose us?

Our specialist orchestra insurance is provided by Insure4Music, part of Ripe. You can build your own policy and choose the cover that best suits your orchestra.

We’ll make sure your orchestra and essential equipment is protected, and our Lowest Price Guarantee means we’re confident you won’t find the same level of cover to match your needs for a better price elsewhere.

That’s why, if you take out a policy and within 14 days find the same levels of cover elsewhere for less, we’ll refund the difference.
